Dr. Martha Leen is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing
in Glaucoma Consultation & Surgery.
Dr. Leen was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She received
both her Undergraduate and Medical Degree from Brown University in
Providence, Rhode Island. An internship in Internal Medicine was then
served at Rhode Island Hospital. Her Ophthalmology residency was completed
at Hahnemann University Hospital, followed by a Glaucoma Fellowship
at Wills Eye Hospital, both in Philadelphia.
In 1993, Dr. Leen joined the full-time faculty as a Glaucoma Specialist
with the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington
in Seattle. In 1996, Dr. Leen moved to the Kitsap Peninsula to continue
her Glaucoma practice and maintains a clinical faculty position at
the University of Washington.
Dr. Leen has an interest in glaucoma research and has published numerous
articles and book chapters in her field. She has given over 100 lectures
on glaucoma-related topics, both locally and at national meetings.
At the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting, Dr. Leen
serves as an instructor for courses on various surgical techniques,
including combined glaucoma/ cataract surgery and drainage devices.
In 2007 she became one of the first Certified Instructors for the NeoMedix Trabectome Glaucoma Surgical Procedure. She has also been a co-investigator in several multicenter pharmaceutical
and surgical glaucoma studies.
Dr. Leen provides a complete range of Glaucoma
services, including evaluation, medical treatment, laser surgery and
incisional surgery. She has a special interest in the complex and
advanced glaucomas.
